Testing specialized high schools

The eight schools are Bronx High School of Science, The Brooklyn Latin School, Brooklyn Technical High School, High School for Mathematics, Science and Engineering at City College, High School of American Studies at Lehman College, Queens High School for the Sciences at York College, Staten Island Technical High School, and Stuyvesant High School.

  • LaGuardia High School uses auditions rather than the SHSAT.
  • Grade 9 seats are substantially more limited and availability varies.

Preferences matter

NYCPS explains that offers depend on score order, the schools a student lists, and remaining seat availability. Historical qualifying scores provide context only; they cannot guarantee a future offer.
